A Chelsea woman was killed Feb. 2 in a three-car accident on Highway 47.

The woman has been identified as 67-year-old Patricia Loggins, according to the Alabama Highway Patrol. She was driving a 2002 Honda Accord.

The drivers of the other two cars were transported to area hospitals.

Austin Revis, 17, of Shelby, was the driver of a 2005 Lincoln LS. He was transported to UAB Hospital.

Charles Bain, 33, of Montevallo, was the driver of a 1997 Toyota Avalon. He also was transported to UAB.

The accident occurred about 5:15 p.m. and snarled traffic for miles. Two life-flight helicopters landed near the scene.

A section of the highway, commonly called Chelsea Road, was closed for more than an hour after the accident.

Traffic was diverted at the intersection of County Highway 39 north of the accident and County Highway 49 south of the accident.

Emergency responders from the Chelsea and Cahaba Valley fire departments were dispatched to the scene, along with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Trooper Cain Lamon was still investigating the accident Thursday morning.
