NORTH SHELBY — Those in need of new housing have an opportunity to begin working with Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Birmingham will host an application workshop for the homeownership program at the BancorpSouth location in Inverness Feb. 10 at 5:45 p.m.

Spokesperson Beth Jerome said Habitat for Humanity is especially looking for Shelby County families to work with.

“We have only had a few folks register for this workshop and are really trying to increase our presence in Shelby, and plan to build several homes in Shelby in the coming year,” Jerome said in an e-mail. “We need qualified families who would like to become homeowners in Shelby County.”

Attending an application workshop is the first step in working with Habitat for Humanity to own a home, Jerome said.

To learn more about the program or register for the workshop, those interested can call 780-1234 or check Habitatbirmingham.org.

Online registration and qualification guidelines are available under the “Apply for a Home” tab on the website.
