James W. Powell, age 88, a resident of Columbiana, died on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Bolton Funeral Home with Minister John McPherson officiating. Burial will follow in Goodspring Church of Christ Cemetery in Goodsprings. Bolton Funeral Home of Columbiana is directing. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at Bolton Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Mr. Powell was retired from Alabama Power Company after 41 years of service.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jessie Short Powell; son, Joseph Powell (Rhonda); daughter, Kathryn Crawford (Clay); grandchildren, Jody Powell Jones (Brandon), Christina Powell Auten (Eric), Justin Crawford (Virginia), Alex Crawford and Hunter Crawford; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
