The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team fell to East Memorial Christian Academy 61-49 in an Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 3A, Region 2 contest Feb. 4 at Wilcox Academy.

Despite the loss, the Lions advanced to the AISA Class 3A state tournament. Kingwood Christian will face Lee-Scott Academy in the Elite Eight on Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. on the Huntingdon College campus.

Madelyn Pearce led the Lions (9-14) with 14 points.

Blair Holsombeck added 13 points in the defeat.
