The Pelham High School boys’ basketball team used a fourth-quarter run to pull away from Tuscaloosa County as the visiting Panthers went on to post a 55-44 win Feb. 7 in their final regular season game.

Pelham, which led 36-34 after three quarters, went on a 10-2 run in the fourth quarter and never trailed in the final period.

Leading 39-38, the Panthers (9-15) capped a 10-2 run on a Graham Reilly driving layup with 1:58 remaining in the game to take a 49-40 lead. Pelham outscored Tuscaloosa County 19-10 in the fourth quarter.

Senior Tony Williams scored 16 points and Tanner Rice added 13 to lead the way for Pelham (9-15) as the Panthers connected on 61 percent (11-of-18) of their field goals in the second half. Pelham finished at a 51 percent clip (20-of-39) from the field for the game. The Panthers were a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line.

Williams added six rebounds with his team-high 16 points. Reilly handed out a game-best six assists.

Junior Xavier Lacey saw his first action since Dec. 10 after missing the Panthers’ last 15 games due to injury.
