The Spain Park High School girls’ soccer team defeated Homewood 5-0 in its season-opening match Feb. 15.

Simone Charley and Marie Blunt scored a pair of goals each for the two-time defending Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A champions in the season-opening victory.

Annalika Steyn scored one goal for the Jaguars, who improved to 1-0.

Spain Park scored two goals in the opening half and three goals in the second half.
