Montevallo baseball falls on the road at West Georgia

The University of Montevallo baseball team fell on the road at West Georgia 11-1 in a mid-week game Feb. 16.

The Falcons (4-3) managed only one run on four hits with a season-high four errors in the loss.

Starting pitcher Will Dismukes took the loss after giving up six runs, including four earned runs, on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Dismukes struck out seven batters and walked two in the loss.

Jeremy Boyte led the Falcons at the plate as he finished 1-for-4 and drove in a run.

Scottie Deason finished 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Heath Peterson, who had a double, and Josh Dabbs each finished 1-for-4 at the plate.

Montevallo took the lead in the top of the first with one run on two hits.

Deason doubled down the right field line with one out and Boyte drove him home with his single up the middle two batters later to give the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.

However, West Georgia responded quickly with four runs in the bottom of the second and held the Falcons scoreless the rest of the game.
