Pelham tops Montevallo in tennis match

The Pelham High School girls’ tennis team defeated Montevallo 8-1 in a high school tennis match Feb. 15.

The Panthers won five of the six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against Montevallo.

Brooke Cole of Pelham won the No. 1 singles’ match 8-4 over Kelsey Childress of Montevallo. Haydn Daniel of Pelham defeated Mary Ann Lee of Montevallo 8-1 in the No. 3 singles’ match.

Tere Heredia of Pelham won the No. 4 singles’ match 8-6 over Kathryn Ray of Montevallo. Natalie Sutton of Pelham defeated Briana Brown 8-3 in the No. 5 singles’ match.

Carla Cleghorn of Pelham defeated Alisha Glover of Montevallo 8-4 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Cole and Daniel defeated Childress and Lee 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Heredia and Shama Parikh of Pelham defeated Jessica Norris and Sarah Hyde of Montevallo 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Sutton and Courtney Speights of Pelham defeated Breanna Blake and Maggie Oswald of Montevallo 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.

Norris defeated Parikh 8-2 in the No. 2 singles’ match for the Bulldogs’ lone victory.
