The Montevallo High School girls’ basketball team ended its season with a loss to Sumter County for the second season in a row following a 62-19 loss to the Wildcats in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 3A sub-region contest Feb. 17.

Sumter County defeated Montevallo 62-14 in the AHSAA Class 3A Central Region tournament last season.

Amber Cardwell led the Bulldogs (15-11) with 13 points in the final game of her high school career. Cardwell, who was named the Shelby County Reporter Player of the Year last season, also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Kayla Cunningham added four points. Kiah Smith chipped in two points in the defeat.
