Judicial Commission accepting applications to replace Circuit Judge Joiner

The Shelby County Judicial Commission is now accepting applications to replace Circuit Judge J. Michael Joiner, whose last day will be Feb. 25.

The deadline for submitting nominations is March 11 at 2 p.m. On that day, the commission will meet to certify and announce the list of persons whose names have been submitted.

Nominations must be submitted in writing to any commission member. Each nominee will be required to sign an authorization allowing the commission to obtain information from all sources, including federal, state or local government agencies.

The commission will meet on March 28 at 2 p.m. to select three nominees whose names will be submitted to Gov. Robert Bentley. The governor will then have 90 days to fill the vacancy.

Members of the Judicial Commission are Judge H.L. Conwill, Doug Key, Jim Pino, Roy Martin and Bill Schroeder.
