Montevallo defeats Jemison

The Montevallo High School baseball team defeated Jemison 7-4 in high school baseball action Feb. 23.

Trevor Chattam pitched a complete game without giving up an earned run on six hits. Chattam, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate, struck out four batters and issued two walks as he picked up the win on the mound.

Eric Smith led the Bulldogs (2-0) at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two homeruns and three RBIs.

Ethan Staab finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Patrick Baugh went 1-for-3 with a homerun and two RBIs. Taylor Burr finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

Baugh and Smith it back-to-back homers in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Montevallo the lead for good. Baugh’s two-run shot gave the Bulldogs a 5-4 lead before Smith’s solo homer added a cushion.
