Briarwood Christian pounds Homewood in championship game

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team pounded Homewood 14-0 in the championship game of its Jay D. Kynerd baseball tournament Feb. 25.

The Lions (4-1) finished with 14 hits in the win.

Ben Craft led Briarwood Christian at the plate as he finished 3-for-3 with a grand-slam home run, a double, five RBIs and two runs scored.

Craft blasted his grand-slam home run in the bottom of the second inning to help turn a 3-0 lead into an 11-0 advantage.

Micah Hooper finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Matthew Furuto went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Logan Crook picked up the win on the mound after giving up only two hits with eight strikeouts and a walk in the five-inning game.
