The Pelham High School softball team edged Spain Park 2-1 in high school softball action Feb. 25.

Kristian Foster led the Panthers (1-1) at the plate as she finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jessie Breland went 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Emily Spain picked up the win on the mound after allowing only one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk in five innings.

Julie Knight took the loss for Spain Park (3-1) after giving up two runs, including one earned run, on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk in 1 2/3 innings.

Channing Haynes gave up two hits with a strikeout and a walk in two innings in relief.
