Rev. William A. Jones, age 86, of Alabaster passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011. He married Mildred L. Little 64 years ago. They had three daughters and one son. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. He gave his heart to Christ as a young man and pastored several churches during his 60 years in the ministry. He was a devoted husband and a loving father.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Christine Jones; four sisters, Louise, Artie, Catherine and Margaret; one brother, Ray; and one son, William A. Jones (Bill Jr.).

He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred; three daughters, Tina Rogers, Rita A. Porter and Gayla Davis (Donny); 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.

He was a wonderful Christian man who touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at River Point Assembly of God in Pelham. He will lie in-state one hour prior to the service.
