The Evangel Christian School baseball team split a doubleheader with Tabernacle Christian School on opening day Feb. 25.

The Lightning (1-1) dropped the opener to Tabernacle 4-3.

Ben Albright and Roecker Melick led Evangel Christian with two hits each.

Evangel Christian defeated Tabernacle 21-8 in the nightcap.

Melick, who picked up the win on the mound, finished with two hits and three RBIs.

Thomas Milstead finished with four RBIs and four runs scored. Brandon Mackey also scored four runs.
