Pelham baseball sweeps doubleheader

The Pelham High School baseball team swept a doubleheader against Pinson Valley and Etowah in high school baseball action Feb. 26.

The Panthers defeated Pinson Valley 10-4.

Zach Canant led Pelham (6-0) at the plate as he finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Nick Foster finished 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Trevor Fitts went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Fitts picked up the win on the mound after giving up four unearned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks in 6 1/3 innings.

Pelham defeated Etowah 12-4 in the doubleheader.

Ty Pierce led the Panthers as he finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored.

Hunter Soleymani went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. Tanner Jackson finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Tyler Millsap picked up the win on the mound after giving up one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts and five walks in three innings in relief.

Starter Alec Rash gave up three runs, including two earned runs, on one hit with eight strikeouts and eight walks in three innings. Gray Cato struck out two batters and issued one walk in one inning in relief.
