Chelsea sweeps baseball doubleheader

The Chelsea High School baseball team defeated Cleburne County and Childersburg in a doubleheader Feb. 26.

The Hornets (5-1) defeated Cleburne County 8-7.

Justen Moore led Chelsea at the plate as he finished 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.

Davis Shoemaker went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Jake Campbell finished 1-for-2 with three walks and an RBI.

Joey Mock picked up the win on the mound after giving up four earned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts in six innings. Campbell recorded his first save of the season.

Chelsea edged Childersburg 5-4.

Campbell led the Hornets at the plate as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored.

Eli Bashour went 2-for-3 with a double. Drew Kennedy finished 2-for- with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Shoemaker went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Tripp Hobbs picked up the win on the mound after giving up four runs on six hits with nine strikeouts in a complete game.
