Kingwood softball sweeps games in tournament

The Kingwood Christian School softball team swept all four of its games Feb. 25-26 in its Cold Nose Classic.

The Lions defeated East Memorial Christian Academy and Pickens Academy in pool games. Kingwood Christian defeated Hooper Academy before topping Prattville Christian in the championship game.

The Lions (6-0) defeated East Memorial 14-1 in their tournament opener.

Jordan Gray and Madeline Lee each homered in the victory. Karley Chamblee finished with two hits.

Kaylyn Ingram picked up the win in the circle after striking out three batters and issuing two walks in four innings.

Kingwood Christian pounded Pickens Academy 16-0 in its final pool game.

Ingram led the Lions at the plate as she finished 3-for-4 with a home run and a double.

Whitney Gillespie finished 2-for-4 with two doubles. Gray went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Lee picked up the win in the circle after pitching three no-hit innings with six strikeouts. Gray struck out one batter in one inning in relief.

The Lions defeated Hooper Academy 6-0 in the tournament semifinals.

Gillespie picked up the win in the circle against Hooper Academy after giving up only one hit with eight strikeouts in four innings. Lee struck out three batters and gave up one hit in one inning in relief.

Kingwood Christian defeated Prattville Christian 9-1 in the championship game.

Lee led the Lions at the plate as she finished 3-for-3 with a triple. Erin Jones went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Gillespie earned the win after striking out seven batters and only giving up two hits in four innings.
