Falcons drop three tennis matches

The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team dropped three tennis matches Feb. 25-27.

The Falcons (2-7 overall, 0-4 in Peach Belt Conference) opened the stretch with a loss to Fort Valley State before dropping matches against North Georgia and Lander University.

The Falcons fell to Fort Valley State 5-4.

Montevallo won three singles’ matches and one doubles’ match Feb. 25 against Fort Valley State.

Calli Robinson of Montevallo defeated Yonelle Aromin of Fort Valley State 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles’ match. The Falcons’ Kodi Bobo defeated Chelsea Spear of Fort Valley State 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Amy McGucken of Montevallo defeated Briana Pettiford of Fort Valley State 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Robinson and Helene Nordgreen of Montevallo defeated Spear and Roberta Robinson of Fort Valley State 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles’ match.

Montevallo dropped a Feb. 26 match against North Georgia 9-0 before falling to Lander University 9-0 in a match Feb. 27.

McGucken nearly won her No 5 singles’ match against Jordan Poole of North Georgia before falling short 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.

Nordgreen and Robinson won four games against Aurelia Ruffat and Cayce Bradley of Lander University in the No. 1 doubles’ match before falling short 8-4.
