Oak Mountain edges Homewood in tennis match

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ tennis team edged Homewood 5-4 in high school tennis action March 1.

The Eagles won two singles’ matches and swept all three doubles’ matches against Homewood.

Oak Mountain’s Anna Manning defeated Mollie Lindsey of Homewood 8-4 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Mary Catherine Touliatos of Oak Mountain defeated Homewood’s Beverly Vappie 8-5 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Katie Gould and Rian Imwalle of Oak Mountain teamed up to defeated Megan Spade and Alicia Cox of Homewood 11-10 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Ashley Ochsenhirt and Samantha Frederick of Oak Mountain defeated Molly and Maggie Williams of Homewood 10-6 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Manning and Touliatos defeated Vappie and Lindsey 10-5 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.

Gould fell to Spade 8-5 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Oschenhirt fell to Cox 9-8 in the No. 2 singles’ match. Imwalle fell to Molly Williams 9-7 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Frederick fell to Maggie Williams 8-4 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Carter Tomlinson of Oak Mountain defeated Homewood’s Sierra Booker 8-4 in an exhibition singles’ match. The Eagles’ Nicky Moon and Ana Ospina fell to Sarah Fields and Kathryn Shields of Homewood 11-9 in an exhibition doubles’ match.
