Pelham falls to Hoover in soccer match

The Pelham High School girls’ soccer team fell to Hoover 5-2 in a high school soccer match March 3.

The Panthers (5-2) scored one goal in each half in the defeat.

Natalia Alcaino scored the first goal for Pelham in the 28th minute of the opening half. Jessica Bird assisted on the goal.

Bird scored the Panthers’ lone goal in the second half.

Pelham goalkeeper Selina Delgadillo finished with 24 saves.

BOYS

The Pelham High School boys’ soccer team fell to Hoover 6-1 in a high school soccer match March 3.

Ryan Tapley scored the lone goal for the Panthers (3-6-1) on a penalty kick with 12:40 remaining in the contest.

Pelham goalkeeper Hunter Payant finished with nine saves in the opening half. Fellow goalkeeper Cameron Foss recorded five saves in the second half.
