Pelham falls to Vestavia Hills in extra innings

The Pelham High School softball team fell to Vestavia Hills 6-3 in extra innings in high school softball action March 3.

The Panthers led 3-1 after the fourth inning before Vestavia Hills scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to send it into extra innings. The Rebels scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to clinch the victory.

Caitlyn Sapp led Pelham (3-3) at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.

Heather McGuirk went 3-for-5 in the defeat. Mary Morgan Dramer, Jessie Breland, Lindsey Pyle, Erin Whitman, Alicia Richardson and Becky Fox recorded one hit each in the loss. Richardson also drove in a run. Dramer and Whitman scored one run each.

Emily Spain took the loss in the circle after giving up three runs, including two earned runs, on six hits with two strikeouts in five innings.

Fox gave up three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and a walk in four innings in relief.
