Pelham remains unbeaten with win over Clay-Chalkville

The Pelham High School baseball team defeated Clay-Chalkville 9-4 in its opening game of the Birmingham Metro tournament March 3.

The Panthers (7-0) scored three runs in the first inning and racked up 11 hits in the victory.

Ty Pierce led Pelham at the plate as he finished 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.

Michael Herring finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Trevor Fitts went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Fitts picked up the win on the mound after giving up four runs, including two earned runs, on seven hits with 14 strikeouts and two walks in a complete game.
