Evangel Christian splits baseball doubleheader with Cathedral

The Evangel Christian School baseball team split a doubleheader with Cathedral Academy in high school baseball action March 3.

The Lightning (2-2) dropped the opener 3-0.

Peter Lau, Brandon Mackey and Ben Albright finished with one hit each in the defeat.

Lau recorded a stolen base.

Albright took the loss after striking out four batters with one walk in three innings. Thomas Milstead pitched in relief and struck out seven batters in three innings.

Evangel Christian rallied to win the nightcap 9-0.

Mackey led the Lightning at the plate as he finished 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

Milstead finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Lau went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs. Daniel Ellis finished 1-for-1 and drove in one run.

Clay O’Neal scored two runs. Matthew Earwood and Grayson Melick scored one run each. Colin Myers drove in a run. Mackey stole a base in the victory.

Mackey picked up the win on the mound after striking out two and walking two batters in two innings in relief.

Nate Scott started on the mound and finished with two strikeouts in two innings. Andrew Thompson struck out four batters and walked one in relief.
