Westminster defeats Pelham in tennis match

The Westminster School at Oak Mountain girls’ tennis team defeated Pelham 5-4 in a high school tennis match March 3.

The Knights won three singles’ matches and two doubles’ matches against Pelham.

Savannah Mills of Westminster defeated Lauren Rowland of Pelham 10-2 in the No. 1 singles’ match. The Knights’ Hope Thompson fell to Haydn Daniel of Pelham 11-9 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Sally Lankford of Westminster defeated Tere Heredia 10-5 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Rebecca Thompson of Westminster defeated Natalie Sutton of Pelham 11-9 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Collins Mills of Westminster fell to Carla Cleghorn of Pelham 10-4 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Westminster’s Emily Gibson defeated Courtney Speights of Pelham 10-3 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Mills and Lankford defeated Rowland and Daniel 11-10 (7-5) in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Hope Thompson and Rebecca Thompson defeated Heredia and Sutton 10-4 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Mills and Gibson defeated Cleghorn and Speights 10-3 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
