Cornerstone tops East Memorial in tournament

The Cornerstone Christian School baseball team defeated East Memorial Christian Academy 12-4 in the Prattville Christian Academy tournament March 4.

Adrian Young led the Chargers (2-2-1) at the plate as he finished 2-for-2 with a triple and a double. Young drove in one run and scored two runs.

Hagan Joiner went 1-for-1 and scored a run. Auston Wingard finished 1-for-1 and scored two runs. Clayton Halbert went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Tim Warren finished 1-for-1 and drove in a run. Sterling Reither went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a run scored. Josh Anderson finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Seth Woody drove in a run. Chase Payne scored two runs.

Wingard picked up the win on the mound after striking out three batters and issuing one walk in four innings. Moore finished with one strikeout in two innings in relief.

Cornerstone Christian fell to host Prattville Christian 6-4 in the tournament.

Dylan Rodgers led the Chargers at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a double. Rodgers scored two runs.

Austin Davis went 1-for-2 with a double and drove in three runs. Wingard finished 1-for-1 with a double. Payne went 1-for-1 and scored a run.

Anderson went 1-for-2 and drove in a run. Young scored a run.

Young took the loss on the mound after giving up three earned runs on four hits and striking out three batters and walking three in 5 2/3 innings.

The Chargers finished in a 5-5 tie with Eastwood Christian in the tournament.

Rodgers led Cornerstone Christian at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

Wingard went 1-for-2 with a double and scored a run. Reither finished 1-for-2, drove in a run and scored a run. Young went 1-for-1 and scored a run.
