Oak Mountain golfer wins Invitational

Oak Mountain High School golfer Clay Nolen fired a 5-under par 66 to capture the Calera Invitational individual championship March 7 at Timberline Golf Club.

Nolen led the Eagles to the team championship as well after Oak Mountain collectively shot a team score of 307, which edged Oxford and Cullman by one stroke.

Zac Goozee carded a 76. Tyler Edge finished with a score of 82. Scott McKnight fired an 83 to round out the group of Oak Mountain golfers.

Chelsea High School golfer Tyler Shope finished second overall in individual standings after carding an even-par 71.

The Hornets finished fourth in team standings with a team score of 310.

Jessie Goss and J.D. Kirby fired a 79 each for the Hornets. Reed Kelley carded a score of 81 to round out the group of Chelsea golfers.

Pelham finished seventh overall in the team standings with a team score of 331.

Connor Slane led the Panthers with his 1-over par 72.

Justin Nolen fired a 78. Braxton Holley finished with a score of 86. Christian Holler carded a 95 to round out the group of Pelham golfers.

Calera finished 11th in team standings. Kevin McGaughy led the Eagles as he finished with a score of 93.

Shelby County came in 13th overall in team standings. Jennifer Walton led the group of Shelby County golfers with her score of 106.

Montevallo finished 14th overall in team standings. Mitch Sanders led the Bulldogs with his score of 118.
