Pelham sweeps doubleheader in tournament

The Pelham High School baseball team defeated Oak Mountain and Clay-Chalkville in a doubleheader March 9 to advance in the Birmingham Metro tournament bracket.

The Panthers (12-1) await the loser between Spain Park and Thompson today at 4:30 p.m. at Spain Park High School. The Jaguars and Warriors, currently tied 6-6 in suspended game, will wrap up their semifinal game before the game to determine the opponent for Pelham.

The Panthers edged Clay-Chalkville 3-2 to advance in the bracket.

Tanner Jackson drove in Parker Curry for the game-winning run in the seventh inning in the victory.

Curry crushed a line-drive double to plate the first two runs for Pelham.

Trevor Fitts earned the win on the mound against the Cougars.

Pelham defeated Oak Mountain 7-2.

Curry pitched and earned the win against Oak Mountain.
