BOYS

The Chelsea High School boys’ soccer team fell to Altamont 2-1 in a high school soccer match March 10.

Altamont celebrated a dramatic victory over Chelsea as Lawrence Wall scored the game-winning goal with 13 seconds left on the clock.

Wall made a timely run as a cross came from the right wing, and Wall delivered a sharp shot toward the right side of the net. Chelsea keeper Josh Carpenter got a hand on it, but it bounced over and into the goal.

Chelsea took the early lead in the first half on a through ball from Travis Mitchell to Austin Rikard, who beat a defender and buried a shot into the bottom left corner of the net. The lead wouldn’t stand, though, as Altamont forward Stefan Pajaro-van de Stadt received a cross behind the Chelsea defense and slid the shot past Carpenter into the goal.

The scored remained tied 1-1 at halftime.
