Kingwood Christian softball sweeps doubleheader

The Kingwood Christian School softball team swept Macon East and Lowndes Academy in a doubleheader March 11 in a tournament at Edgewood Academy.

The Lions (14-0) defeated Macon East Academy 6-0.

Erin Jones led Kingwood Christian at the plate as she finished 2-for-3 with a home run. Jones drove in three runs in the victory.

Karlee Chamblee went 2-for-3.

Madeline Lee picked up the win in the circle after pitching a two-hitter with four strikeouts.

Kingwood Christian defeated Lowndes Academy 8-0 in the tournament.

Lee led the Lions at the plate as she finished 1-for-4 with a grand-slam home run. Lee drove in four runs in the win.

Jones finished 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs. Chamblee went 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Whitney Gillespie finished 1-for-2 and scored two runs.

Gillespie picked up the win in the circle after pitching a two-hit shutout through four innings with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Kaylyn Ingram struck out two batters in one inning in relief.
