Joe H. Wheless Jr., age 85, of Birmingham passed away Monday March 7, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Mary R. Wheless; sons, Joe H. Wheless III (Kay) and John M. Wheless (Joy); daughter, Pat Burleson (Jeff); his grandchildren, Johnny Wheless, David Wheless (Sandy), Christie Dawson (Scott), Karen Wheless, Jamie Carnes (Shayne), Julie Wheless and Kim Burleson; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Elmwood Cemetery at 1 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to service at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Mr. Wheless served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. The family wishes to express its warmest appreciation to the staff at Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation for their kindness and compassion to Mr. Wheless.
