Jaguars sweep doubleheader in tournament

The Spain Park High School baseball team swept a doubleheader in the Buccaneer Classic on March 15.

The Jaguars defeated Pell City and Alexandria in the tournament.

Spain Park shut out Pell City 5-0.

Carter White led Spain Park (15-6) at the plate as he finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Mikey White went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Paul Angel went 1-for-4. Alex Close finished 1-for-4. Marks Abernathy went 1-for-4. Charlie McPherson finished 1-for-3. Sean Taylor scored two runs.

Abernathy picked up the win on the mound after giving up only five hits with eight strikeouts and three walks in a complete game.

The Jaguars defeated Alexandria 11-7 in the nightcap.

Angel led Spain Park at the plate as he finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Angel homered in the victory,

Carter White finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Abernathy went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Hunter Hall went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Mikey White finished 1-for-4 and scored a run. Close finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Nathan Brock went 1-for-4. Austin Walker finished 1-for-3 and drove in a run. Colton Freeman scored a run.

Austin Wadsworth started on the mound and gave up six runs, including three earned runs, on six hits with a strikeout in four innings.

Veteto gave up one earned run on five hits with a strikeout in three innings.

The Jaguars fell to Hartselle 9-3 in a suspended game from March 14 in between the doubleheader.

Veteto led Spain Park at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Carter White went 1-for-2 and drove in a run. Mikey White went 1-for-3. Marks Abernathy finished 1-for-1 and scored a run. Marley finished 1-for-1.

Nick Mullens started on the mound gave up four earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Dustin Cowart allowed five earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk in three innings in relief.
