Coosa Valley sweeps doubleheader

The Coosa Valley Academy baseball team swept a doubleheader March 16 during its trip to Florida.

The Rebels defeated Alcha High School (Fla.) 8-0 in its first game of the day.

John Bullen led Coosa Valley (19-2) at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a triple and a double. Bullen drove in a run in the victory.

Myles Varner, Saxon Grimes and Hunter Roe finished with a hit and an RBI each. Jarrod Mims and Hunter Winslett drove in one run each.

Daniel Kennedy earned the win on the mound after giving up two hits in five innings.

Coosa Valley defeated Malone (Fla.) 3-1 in the nightcap.

Roe led the Rebels at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

Bullen finished 2-for-2. Mims and Preston Parker each went 1-for-3.

Roe picked up the win on the mound after giving up two hits with eight strikeouts. Winslett earned the save after giving up one hit with one strikeout in two innings in relief.
