Hope Christian drops doubleheader against Evangel Family

The Hope Christian School baseball team fell to Evangel Family Christian Academy in a doubleheader March 17.

The Eagles (0-8) fell to Evangel Family 12-2 in the opener.

Matthew Hyde led Hope Christian at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Tyler Hickman went 1-for-2 and scored a run. Kaleb Arnold finished 1-for-2. Daniel Clark drove in one run and scored two runs. Hickman and Hyde each had a stolen base.

Hyde took the loss after giving up five earned runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts in four innings. Hickman allowed one unearned run with two strikeouts in one inning in relief.

Hope Christian fell to Evangel Family 21-11 in the nightcap.

Hyde again led the Eagles at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Caleb Rettig finished 1-for-3 and scored a run. Christopher Hale went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Caleb Key went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Hickman drove in a run and scored a run. Josh Arnold drove in a run and scored a run. Preston Lessley drove in one run. Jonathan Arnold scored two runs.

Hickman took the loss after giving up four earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks in 3 2/3 innings. Dillon Thompson allowed seven earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and four walks in 2 1/3 innings in relief.
