Pelham sweeps doubleheader in Memphis tournament

The Pelham High School baseball team swept a doubleheader in a tournament March 17 in Memphis, Tenn.

The Panthers defeated Jackson Academy (Miss.) 10-4 in their first game.

Tanner Jackson led Pelham at the plate as he finished 3-for-3 with two doubles. Jackson drove in four runs in the victory.

Ty Pierce finished 2-for-5 with a double. Pierce drove in a run and scored three runs.

Alec Rash started on the mound and gave up four runs, including three earned runs, on three hits with six strikeouts and six walks in five innings.

Tyler Millsap struck out five batters with one walk and allowed one hit in two innings in relief.

Pelham defeated Munford (Tenn.) 5-0 in the nightcap.

Pierce led the Panthers at the plate as he finished 1-for-3 with a double. Pierce drove in two runs.

Nick Foster finished 2-for-2 and scored two runs.

Hunter Soleymani started on the mound and gave up one hit with nine strikeouts in six innings.

Parker Curry allowed two hits with a strikeout and a walk in one inning in relief.
