Kingwood Christian wins softball tournament title

The Kingwood Christian School girls’ softball team defeated Hooper Academy to win the Hooper tournament championship game March 26.

The Lions defeated Hooper Academy 11-1 in the championship game.

Erin Jones finished 3-for-3 with a triple in the victory.

Kaylyn Ingram finished 2-for-2 with a double. Jordan Gray finished 3-for-3 with a double. Whitney Gillespie went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Gillespie earned the win in the circle after giving up one run on one hit with nine strikeouts in a five-inning complete game.

Kingwood Christian defeated Hooper Academy 11-3 in pool play at the tournament.

Madeline Lee led the Lions at the plate as she finished 4-for-5 with two doubles.

Gillespie went 3-for-5 with a double. Jones finished 3-for-5 with a home run. Gray went 3-for-5 with a triple.

Lee earned the win in the circle after giving up three runs on five hits with three strikeouts in five innings. Gillespie struck out two batters in two innings in relief.

The Lions defeated Edgewood Academy 8-0 in the tournament.

Gillespie, Jones and Karley Chamblee finished with two hits each in the victory. Gray added a double.

Ingram earned the win in the circle after giving up four hits with four strikeouts in six innings.
