Fourth graders at Vincent Elementary School, in the class of Paula Tolbert, recently worked with professionals in Ann Arbor, Michigan to learn about owls via videoconference. The students interacted with avian experts from the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum. Students used critical thinking and the scientific inquiry as they dissected owl pellets. Owl pellets are indigestible remains of prey after it has been swallowed by an owl. After removing the bones from the pellets students matched the skeletal bones to various prey that the owl could have eaten to determine exactly what the owl had for supper.
