Thomas J. “Tom” Stone, age 68, went to be with his Lord on March 27, 2011. After a courageous six-year battle with cancer, Tom passed away with his family by his side. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. His time spent in the service of his country was a source of great pride and honor for him. Tom was also an avid fan of the Crimson Tide, and he cherished his red 1996 Chevrolet Silverado truck. Tom centered his life around his family as a loving husband, father and friend. Those left to cherish his love and memories are his loving wife, Deborah Stone; daughters, Angela Rozelle Wren and Tammie Lynn Ratchford (Scott); three grandchildren, Janet Marie Greer (Jake) and Taylie and Tommy Ratchford; two great-grandchildren, Abagail and Skyler Greer; his four-legged granddaughter, Shelby; and his faithful four legged companion, Ally, who brought him such love and comfort.

Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Suzette Montgomery, and stepson, David Eric Wren. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff, Dr. James Cantrell, Bruno Cancer Center and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Beyond his family, Thomas J. Stone was a friend to all, a father figure to some, a storyteller to many and a listening ear to others. Many people were honored to know and love this remarkable man. Tom also wished to thank his dear friends at D.L. Acton Construction Company and the B&A Warehouse for their prayers, kindness and love for him and his family.
