Spain Park takes down Homewood in extra innings

The Spain Park High School baseball team defeated Homewood 6-3 in extra innings in a Class 6A, Area 12 contest March 31.

Spain Park clinched the victory with three runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Carter White led the Jaguars (24-8 overall, 1-1 in Class 6A, Area 12) at the plate as he finished 3-for-5 with three doubles. White drove in three runs in the victory.

Paul Angel finished 2-for-4 and drove in a run. Marks Abernathy went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Alex Close finished 1-for-3 with a double. Mikey White went 1-for-3 and scored a run.

Close started on the mound and gave up one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts and four walks in 4 1/3 innings. Colton Freeman earned the win in relief after giving up one earned run with eight strikeouts and seven walks in 3 2/3 innings.
