Thompson defeats rival Pelham in soccer match

The Thompson High School boys’ soccer team defeated rival Pelham 3-0 in a Class 6A, Section 6 match April 1.

Following a scoreless first half, the Warriors clinched the victory with three goals in the second half.

Paul Karanja led Thompson with two goals. Luke McKinney and Chris Corscadden recorded each recorded an assist on Karanja’s goals.

Jacob Ramsey capped the scoring for the Warriors with his second-half goal, which was assisted by Jarred McKinney.

Thompson goalkeeper Eric Hubbard finished with 13 saves. Pelham goalkeeper Hunter Payant recorded five saves in the defeat.

GIRLS

The Thompson High School girls’ soccer team defeated Pelham 5-0 in a Class 6A, Section 6 contest April 1.

Alli Watts led the Warriors with three goals in the victory. Kathleen Pohl assisted on one of Watts’ three goals.

Mariah Poe scored one goal, which was assisted by Amber Harless. Madison Thomas contributed the final goal, which was unassisted.

Thompson goalkeepers Sarah Allen and Kelsey Ferguson combined to post the shut out. Allen finished with four saves. Ferguson recorded two saves in the victory.

Pelham goalkeeper Selina Delgadillo finished with four saves.
