Mrs. Janice Atkinson Buchanann, age 55, of Childersburg passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Jan was a true free spirit who loved riding motorcycles and spending time with her dogs. She was a lifetime member of Arkwright Baptist Church. She attended Vincent High School, where she was a member of the marching band. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Van Voast of Childersburg; mother, Marilyn Ann McClurg of Vincent; brother, Bobby Atkinson (Barbara) of Helena; and sisters, Barbara Buchanann of Vincent, Susan Clark (Marc) of China Grove, N.C., Patti Kirkland (Kent) of Irondale and Pam Crowder (Rick) of Vincent.

Visitation was held Monday, April 4, 2011, at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Arkwright Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Reverends Don Morris and Ronnie Snyder officiating. Mrs. Buchanann will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Arkwright Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at Curtisandsonfunerals.com.
