Calera golf tournament to benefit local charity

CALERA – The 5th annual Swinging Force Achievement golf tournament to benefit the Arc of Shelby County will be held May 12 at Timberline Golf Club.

Organizers said the goal is to raise $12,000 for the Arc of Shelby, with tournament revenues benefitting children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. That will be done through programs such as Kids First, Right Jobs, Community Living and New Visions.

Entry fee is $125 per golfer, which includes green fee and a golf cart, a Timberline picture bag tag, pre-round practice balls, goodie bag, door prizes, prizes for top three teams, free ticket for major prize drawing, closest-to-hole contest, free $40 green fee card for next Timberline visit (Monday-Thursday) and lunch.

The tournament format is a best-ball four-man scramble. Registration is at 11:45 a.m. with tee-off at 1 p.m. Lunch and practice begin at noon.

Timberline is located from I-65 South exit 228. At the end of the ramp, turn left and the entrance to Timberline is 400 yards on the right.
