Briarwood Christian School senior Caleb Ward has been selected to play for the North squad in the North-South All-Star football game during All-Star Sports Week in Montgomery in July.

Ward, who was a team captain last season, will play in the all-star game scheduled Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the Cramton Bowl.

Ward, a 6-foot, 220-pound defensive end, helped lead the Lions to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A championship game in 2010.

All-Star Sports Week, which is hosted by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association, will be held July 11-15 at Montgomery.

In addition to the coaching school and awards banquets that highlight the week, all-star contests will also be held in baseball, softball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, volleyball and boys’ and girls’ basketball in addition to football, the oldest of the all-star contests. Other rosters will be announced later.
