Evangel Christian sweeps First Assembly

The Evangel Christian School baseball team swept a doubleheader with First Assembly Christian School in a high school baseball doubleheader April 9.

The Lightning (17-5) won the opener 12-2.

Thomas Milstead led Evangel Christian at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a triple and a double. Milstead drove in three runs and scored one run in the victory.

Hayden Brown, who drove in three runs and scored two runs, finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Nate Scott, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-2 with a triple. Ben Albright, who drove in three runs and scored three runs, finished 1-for-3 with a double.

Colin Myers went 1-for-2 and scored one run. Daniel Ellis finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Clay O’Neal and Brandon Mackey scored one run each.

Albright started on the mound and earned the victory after giving up two runs with eight strikeouts and a walk in four innings.

Mackey issued three walks and struck out one batter in one inning in relief.

Evangel Christian defeated First Assembly 20-4 in the nightcap.

Andrew Thompson led the Lightning at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a triple and a double. Thompson drove in three runs and scored three runs.

Peter Lau, who drove in two runs and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Ellis, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 with a double.

Brown, Scott, Mackey, Albright and Philip Foster had one hit each.

Scott earned the win after giving up one earned run on one hit with five strikeouts and two walks in four innings. Thompson gave up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk in one inning.
