Pelham sweeps Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa in baseball doubleheader

The Pelham High School baseball team swept a doubleheader with Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa in high school baseball action April 9.

The Panthers (23-11) defeated Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 4-2 in the opener.

Jake Williams led Pelham at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a home run. Williams drove in two runs and scored one run in the victory.

Tanner Jackson, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.

Parker Curry earned the win on the mound after giving up one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts and a walk in five innings.

Hunter Pearson earned a save after giving up one unearned run on one hit with six strikeouts in two innings in relief.

Pelham topped Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 8-6 in the nightcap.

Jackson led the Panthers at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Jackson drove in two runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Curry, who scored two runs, finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a double.

Tyler Millsap earned the win on the mound. Trevor Fitts picked up a save after striking out one batter in one inning in relief.
