Thompson wins softball tournament

The Thompson High School softball team defeated Vestavia Hills 3-2 to capture the tournament championship in its softball tournament April 9.

Jordan Swindle led the Warriors (20-9) at the plate with two hits in the title game.

Taylor Powell earned the win in the circle after giving up two runs on five hits with two strikeouts in a complete game.

The Warriors defeated Opelika 11-1 in the tournament.

Marly Terrell led Thompson at the plate as she blasted two home runs in the game.

Sarah Beth Holdbrooks finished with three hits, including a double. Rachel Rigney added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Rigney earned the win in the circle after giving up just one run on two hits with six strikeouts in a complete game.

Thompson defeated Walker 6-1 in the tournament.

Terrell led the Warriors at the plate with two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Powell and Rebecca Victory finished with two hits each.
