James Herschel Rhodes, 87, of Clanton died Friday, April 8, 2011. He was born on Thursday, July 16, 1923 in Chilton County, the son of the late Jessie James Rhodes and the late Lula May Payton Rhodes.

He was owner-operator of Dairy Delite in Montevallo for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice Marie Rhodes of Clanton; two sons, Jerry Rhodes of Clanton and Danny Rhodes of Clanton; daughter, Linda Gail Edwards of Clanton; two brothers, Wilton Rhodes and Sammy Rhodes; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends were received from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services were held Sunday, April 10, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Jackson Chapel Church with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Interment followed in Jackson Chapel Cemetery, Clanton.
