Montevallo sweeps baseball doubleheader

The Montevallo High School baseball team swept Dallas County and Billingsley in a baseball doubleheader April 9.

The Bulldogs defeated Dallas County 7-3.

Chase Hamrick led Montevallo at the plate as he finished 2-for-4 with a double. Hamrick drove in two runs and scored one run in the victory.

Patrick Baugh, who scored a run and had a stolen base, went 3-for-4 at the plate. Eric Smith, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Hamrick started on the mound and earned the win after giving up one earned run on two hits in five innings with three strikeouts and three walks.

Taylor Burr closed out the game with two unearned runs on one hit with two walks in the final two innings.

Montevallo defeated Billingsley 15-3.

Smith led the Bulldogs at the plate as he finished 4-for-4 with two home runs. Smith, who also had a double, drove in five runs in the victory.

David Shirah finished 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base. Connor Goggins  added two doubles. Trey Colley went 2-for-3 with a double.

Baugh earned the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks in three innings.

Staab closed out the game and allowed one run on one hit with one strikeout in two innings.
