Hope Christian sweeps softball doubleheader

The Hope Christian School softball team swept Tabernacle Christian in a high school softball doubleheader April 11.

The Eagles (9-5) won the opener 17-2.

Ashley Vann led Hope Christian at the plate as she finished 2-for-2 with a double. Vann drove in two runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Ashleigh Callahan, who drove in two runs and scored three runs, went 1-for-2 with a triple. Glennleigh Boyd, who drove in three runs and scored a run, finished 1-for-3 with a double. Lindy Walker, who drove in two runs and scored three runs, finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a triple.

Layla Skinner finished 1-for-2 and scored two runs. Tiffany Skinner drove in one run. Amanda Rowley scored three runs. Ani Hughes scored two runs and Samantha Rowley scored one run.

Vann earned the win in the circle after giving up two earned runs on one hit with eight strikeouts.

Hope Christian defeated Tabernacle 16-1 in the nightcap.

Callahan led the Eagles at the plate as she finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Megan Mahan finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Tiffany Skinner, who drove in three runs and scored a run, went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Sarah Birdsong, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Walker, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished 1-for-3 with a double.

Walker earned the win in the circle after giving up just one run with three strikeouts and a walk in three innings.
