Chelsea tops rival Briarwood Christian in softball

The Chelsea High School softball team defeated rival Briarwood Christian School 16-2 in high school softball action April 12.

Morgan Pence led the Hornets at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 with a home run. Pence drove in three runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Kacie Craft, who drove in one run and scored three runs, finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double. Alex Osborn, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 3-for-4 at the plate.

Osborn earned the win after giving up just two hits with two strikeouts in two innings. Craft allowed two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk in three innings in relief.

Julianne Howard and Hannah Sankey led Briarwood Christian at the plate as each finished 1-for-2 with a double.

Sara Kate Bracewell took the loss in the circle after giving up four earned runs on five hits with a walk in 2 1/3 innings.

Linley Splawn allowed five earned runs on nine hits with a strikeout and two walks in 4 1/3 innings in relief.
